St. Paul’s United Methodist Church is…. . . a Place for Families and Fellowship
Family Life EventsThe Family Life Committee sponsors several church wide
events through the year. These
events feature activities such as:
fellowship meals, ice cream socials, and church picnics. Diamond SetThe Diamond Set meets monthly and provides senior women
of St. Paul's with opportunities for fun, fellowship, program presentation, and
lunch. Special guest speakers,
field trips, and tours of interesting places are just a few of the events
Diamond Set members enjoy. BridgeOn the last Monday of each month, all Bridge players are
invited to join our group in the Parlor for an afternoon of Bridge. United Methodist MenEvery man in our church is invited to join St. Paul's
Methodist Men. This group meets for
breakfast and inspiration at 7:15 A.M. on the second Sunday of each month.
The men's group has sponsored a scholarship at Centenary College since
1978, primarily funded through chili suppers and bar-b-que chicken dinners.
St. Paul's UMM also assists our Boy Scout Troop and our Youth Group. Fellowship of Retired MenThe Fellowship of Retired Men (FORM) provides a time of
recreation, fellowship and inspiration for the senior men of St. Paul's.
FORM meets once a month for lunch and a program, with emphasis on
fellowship rather than structure. Meeting
are informal, relaxed, and friendly. United Methodist Women
The United Women of St. Paul's Methodist Church are
actively involved in carrying out the purpose for which they were organized.
The total membership meets monthly for a General Meeting.
This takes place on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 A.M. in the
Parlor. Interesting and inspiring
programs encourage women to become personally involved in mission outreach.
Programs for this year are categorized as follows:
Christian Personhood, Christian Social Involvement, Christian Global
Concerns and Supportive Community. Refreshments
are served before each meeting.
Our
UMW provides financial support for mission programs within our local church, the
Monroe community and the State of Louisiana, as well as supporting national and
global projects. Special attention
is given to projects involving the needs of women and children.
UMW church ministries include Northeast Campus Ministries, The Ronald
McDonald House, Meals on Wheels for the
elderly and others.
Members
of the unit are organized into three mission groups. These groups meet monthly, also.
Mission groups provide supportive fellowship for their members.
They also participate in several types of ministry: shut-ins,
hospitalized persons, students and to other individuals and groups.
These mission groups meet as follows:

John Wesley said that the world is his parish. A few examples of different projects and activities the church is engaged in at present are Christian Community Ministries of Monroe, the distribution of food for the hungry, Louisiana Methodist Children's Home of Ruston, cooking and serving one meal per month at the DeSiard Street Mission, a medical and construction mission trip in Mexico, and the Angel Tree Project. Pastoral Care
St. Paul's United Methodist Church is committed to providing a ministry of pastoral care for our members and the community. We believe that any crisis in life can be an opportunity for the renewal of our faith and spiritual growth. Our pastors have a deep concern for people, and are uniquely qualified to minister to a wide variety of human situations. Your pastors share in the pastoral care of the entire congregation, while each one also takes a special focus for particular ministries. Your pastors are trained for Christian ministry and are ready to help individuals and families in their times of need. They expect members and friends of the church to call on them when a need arises.
