Gifts, Blessings, Remembrances…

Steven Bonnell Wallace completed his earthly journey January 27, 2006. The St. Paul’s congregation gathered February 2, 2006 to celebrate Steve’s faith, life and witness. Dick Humphries led the celebration! Steve loved St. Paul’s, finding here something that makes a difference. March 20, 2008, St. Paul’s received a cashier’s check in the amount of forty thousand dollars ($ 40,000.00) from Steve’s estate. Bob Burns, chair of trustees, received this gift on behalf of the St. Paul’s congregation and has deposited the check in an interest bearing account.

In our United Methodist tradition, Church trustees receive gifts on behalf of the congregation and determine how these gifts will be used. Our St. Paul’s trustees are Bob Burns, chair; Taylor Cagle, vice chair; Jill Handy, secretary; Deena Burch, Julie Cunningham, Stuart Keyes, Mike Gibbens, Jeff Joyce, and Reba Shemwell. Questions or suggestions may be directed to individual trustees or to the pastor.

Steve continues to bless St. Paul’s through this remembrance!

The refurbishment of our parlor kitchen is nearly complete! This project is made possible through the kindness of Mrs. Irma Cox. New flooring, custom cabinets, and new appliances now enhance this kitchen which is used for receptions, weddings and a host of other events. We extend our thanks to Bob and Lynda Burns for overseeing this project to completion.

Some new furniture is already in the parlor and other new furniture will arrive shortly. This enhancement to the parlor is made possible through the kindness and generosity of Harold and Regina Humphries and John and Diane Smith and the St. Paul’s Memorial Gifts Committee: Lynn Barr, chair; Margaret Ann King and Mary Dell Neil.

St. Paul’s is indeed fortunate to be loved by such thoughtful friends! We do indeed give thanks for their faith, life and witness!

 With faith,

J. Roddy Taylor
